Parallels

Parallels is a study on the connection between land, agency, and the body. The images fluctuate between tension and serenity, spectacle and ownership. Each image is considered as part of the female experience, with the figure posing in line with the environment and later becoming a more independent owner of the space and self. Each image is laden with vulnerability, pain, and a certain amount of risk inherent to the pose and/or location. As a whole the work pulls from female coming of age fables and stories, thinking about a journey into the woods as a metaphor for movement in this violent and tumultuous world.
